Sweet Liberia: Captivating Cape Mount

This tourism post takes place in Grand Cape Mount County in the little fishing town of Roberts Port to be exact. Cape Mount is a beautiful but BUMPY car ride just two hours outside of the capitol, Monrovia, and is the home of the awesome Lake Piso. My mother, two family friends from Wisconsin USA, my boyfriend and I were accommodated Nana's Lodge, a quiet little beach resort where we rented a safe wooden cabin. We also brought along a tent where we were given the chance to fall asleep to the waves of the Atlantic while camping on the beach. Before hitting the road back to Monrovia we went on a unforgettable boat tour of Lake Piso for only $15USD per person for 30 mins. Good times!

Roberts Port is known as one of the top surfing destinations in West Africa. Many surfers come to Liberia without even seeing the Capitol.

Liberia's 2012 Presidential Inauguration

Hello All! These are some old pics I never got a chance to put up from the Inauguration of Liberia's President Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. The event took place on January 16, 2012, and though it was HOT outside it was truly an honor to be there. Enjoy!

Liberia's Vice President Joseph Boakai

I decided to wear a tailor made backless (or as Liberians say "dig my back") number. The look was inspired by a dress worn by Tracee Ellis Ross a couple of years back.

Below: The Lonestar Robot...love this guy...he has the best mime act I have ever seen.

Zutin: The Liberia Fashion and Art Expose

I had the pleasure of attending The Liberia Fashion and Art Expose on February 18, 2012 at The Golden Gate Hotel, and I must say I was pretty damn proud of these Liberian designers. The purpose of the show was to raise funds for marginalised women and youth through the Marazetti Organization. The show consisted of three lines of three different designers that are based in the country, as well as musical and comedy acts.

I attend the event with my girlies while wearing a belted self designed jumper, Jessica Simpson sandals and a mock crock tote. I apologize for the blurriness of some of the pics. I promise as the blog grows so will all of the bells and whistles!
